Snowbird RV Adventure Part 1: Seal Beach to Pomona Fairplex KOA

Part 1: Days 38 - 40

We lived in Pomona next to the fairground from 1984-2005.
December 11: The first part of our Snowbird RV Adventure is coming to a close. And in a place we both know well.

In 1981 we were married were living in a Pomona condo. In 1984, we moved to a larger townhouse near the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds.

While we lived there, I served as a school administrator and Wayne was a professor in the Aeronautics Department at Mt. San Antonio College.

A long lineup for In-N-Out burgers and fries.
One thing we've missed since moving to the Pacific Northwest and Coastal BC is In-N-Out Burger.

We used our RV to get to the La Verne restaurant. The Sunseeker is too big for a drive-through so we found a parking spot in the grocery store lot and walked over to get our long awaited meal.

Things haven't changed. Looked at that double line and it wasn't even dinner time yet.

December 12-13: We arranged for a pull-through deluxe patio site at the Pomona Fairplex KOA. That gave us a larger grass area to enjoy now that the rain was over. We wanted to get a final dose of sunshine before returning north.

Site #114 included an extra parking spot that we used for our chairs in the sun.

You can sit inside or outside on the patio.
We also missed the El Merendero Mexican restaurant near the Pomona Raceway. When I was in high school, guys brought their cars to the raceway to drag race. You can still do that and its the also home to the NHRA Winternationals.

I love the chips and salsa. I got my favourite chili rellano and Wayne got enchiladas. Everything here is just as good as we remembered!

Pomona was a good place for our last RV stay of the trip. -- Wayne and Margy

    1. It was quite a trip with a few twists and turns along the way we didn't plan in advance. That's the beauty of not having a specific destination each day. - Margy
