Cities have parks for public recreation, relaxation, and entertainment. These urban oases draw residents and tourists alike to enjoy the outdoors.
In downtown Los Angeles, Exposition Park has beautiful grounds with lawns, museums, sports venues, and a lovely rose garden. The Exposition Park Rose Garden was created in 1928 and is maintained by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks. While Wayne and I were on our Los Angeles sportscation, we took an afternoon off to enjoy the lovely garden and spend some quiet time reading in the glorious, warm sunshine.
Do you have parks in your town? Which one is your favourite and why? -- Margy
Oh what a glorious park - I can smell the roses in the warm sunshine. I'll always miss California and have lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteBellingham has over 100 parks, green spaces and open spaces - so many to choose from - we love the Big RockGarden - Bloedel Donavan park on Lake Whatcm - Elizabeth Park in the older section of town for the trees and concerts in the summer - that's just a few - we have many others - must not forget Whatcom Falls Park - always a favorite.
I haven't made it to any of them. We need to get out more when we are in town. We have our favourite things to do like WWU sports, but most of the time we just go crazy on the Internet and with TV sports. - Margy
DeleteHi Margy, I love parks especially those with beautiful flowers, trees and green lawns. We seldom have roses in our parks unless we go up to the highlands. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteRoses were a favourite with my mother. She always had a mini rose garden at every home until she moved into a condo in her 90s. Thanks for the visit and all your recent comments. - Margy
DeleteHi Margy! A very nice place to relax and enjoy the roses and smell them too, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteIt could even be taken in a rose garden we have near us in Belfast where we often go for strolls.
Happy weekend!
There are some things like parks that cross all borders. - Margy
DeleteThat looks like a great park! Kudos to the city for keeping it up. Tulsa has many parks and it is a constant fight against the Tea Partiers who want to sell land on them for outlet malls or restaurants or what have you.
ReplyDeleteAfter the game it was a big mess. People just throw things on the ground at big events like football games. Sometimes I wonder how they were brought up. - Margy
DeleteI love checking out new parks - and the flowers. Most of the parks here go down to the ocean, but one of my favorite is seal bay park with a short hike down through the forest to the water (right by Comox Ferry terminal). The walk to the new suspension bridge in Campbell Rivers is also a very nice park.
ReplyDeleteNext time we come across to the Island I'll have to check the park out. - Margy
DeleteGreat place ... Gotta love a nice warm garden spot in November!
ReplyDeleteThat we do. We plan most of our trips from October through March and stay home almost full time when the weather at the cabin is warmer. We do like winter at home, just not all the time. - Margy
DeleteDo we have parks? I recently wrote a post about them! http://webcroft.blogspot.com/2015/11/front-royals-greatest-parks.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation. I came over to check them out. - Margy
