Part 2: Day 27
February 28: One reason we chose Lazy Days KOA as our last destination for Part 2 of our Snowbird RV Adventure was its proximity to Tucson International Airport.
Allegiant Airlines flies direct between Tucson and Bellingham during winter,. |
We put our Sunseeker RV in a secure area to wait for our return. We have an electric hookup so we can keep our batteries charged and to use our Davis Air-Dryr dehumidifiers. In addition to preventing moisture buildup, they provide some heat to combat cool nights.
We still love our float cabin home in all seasons. |
After taking care of some business in Bellingham, we'll head home to our float cabin on Powell Lake, an adventure in its own right.
There still may be some winter weather, but after all of the Arizona sunshine it's okay.
Here's a summary of our Snowbird RV Adventure so far.

Hi Margry
ReplyDeleteYour RV home looks very comfortable and like a wonderful way to travel. Your cabin home looks even more comfortable and in an amzing setting. You have the best of two worlds!
Yes we do. Both choices of where to be works for us. - Margy
Delete...you seem to have the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteAfter we moved north from Southern California we loved the winter experience. Now after 19 years we are enjoying some of the southern warmer experiences once again. - Margy
DeleteYou lead such an interesting life!!
ReplyDeleteWe do try. At least retirement isn't boring. - Margy
DeleteNice adventures. It's nice not to be tied down in one place. A great way to enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved traveling and seeing new places. - Margy
Deletegreat to be able to pick up and go
ReplyDeleteAnd take your bed with you. - Margy
DeleteLooks like a wonderful adventure under pretty blue skies!
ReplyDeleteAnd one more segment to come in April. It's been lots of fun. - Margy
DeleteGreat sky shots.
ReplyDeleteThe blue during the day and clear nights were awesome. - Margy
DeleteI'm looking forward to your tales in B.C.!
ReplyDeleteThere will be more BC tales, but not with an RV. Ours is restricted to the States due to some unique customs rules about Canadians driving foreign vehicles into the country. - Margy
DeleteThis is definitely my idea of seeing the countryside! I could wander around in your camper for weeks at a time :) Great scenery you shared.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see you at 'My Corner of the World' this week!
My Corner of the World
I would like to explore New Zealand in a similar way. We have rental RVs here, is that something they rent in your area? - Margy
DeleteGreat story Margy. What fun you guys are having
ReplyDeleteMB
We've always loved camping, but this seems to fit better with our current abilities and comfort level. - Margy
DeleteI love camping, for now we just use tent, but your RV is a winner. Enjoy your adventure on the road.
ReplyDeleteWe were tent campers until last year. We still do it in certain situations when we can't use our RV. Tent camping is a little more flexible, so it is a good way to stay in remote areas. - Margy
DeleteLife is now. Enjoy it!!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. - Margy
DeleteHello, The RV life sounds like fun. I enjoyed your photos and all the post. Thanks for sharing, you give me idea where to visit. Have a great day and a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a change to photographs some critters to post on your site. Maybe in segment three. - Margy
DeleteIt has been a great journey, lovely to have a secure place to store your RV. I've been along for the journey but not always commenting, our internet has bee intermittent for a few days.
ReplyDeleteWe get spotty Internet on the road. I take advantage of good places to write and schedule posts for later posting. Kind of cheating, but that's what works while on the road. - Margy
DeleteDoesent the lake freeze up in winter, I'd be conserned about it doing that around my house
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't. We live in a coastal area with temperate winters. The lake is also very large and over 1000' deep in places. The shoreline doesn't even freeze during cold snaps. There are float cabin in more northern areas that do experience freezing. Transportation to and from during freeze-up and spring-thaw are the most difficult times. - Margy
DeleteI love that float cabin!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It is my favourite place to be. - Margy
DeleteWow! That's a lots of miles. What an adventure.
ReplyDeleteWe will have a lot more to come to get back to Bellingham. Segment two has been a lot of fun because we don't have to drive so much. - Margy
DeleteLooks like a wonderful adventure! Love that float cabin!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so far. We are on hold right now for Part 3. - Margy
DeleteThat was a very smart move storing the RV there ...you now have the best of two worlds! Happy times ahead at the float cabin! (I will be back for the next part of the RV adventure, but won’t you have some cabin stories in the meantime?)
ReplyDeleteTo be safe we are staying in Bellingham so there may be fewer stories to tell. - Margy
DeleteMargy - is a "welcome home" in order? I love the picture of your float cabin against the cliffs, with snow and icicles in the background.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We enjoy life no matter where we are. - Margy
