Rebroadcast of Our Float Cabin on UNIS Television

Wayne and I were honoured to host a film team from Red Letter Films at our Hole in the Wall float cabin home in July 2014. Evelyne and her film crew including camera technician Catherine (Cat), and assistant camera tech Creighton (Crey), spent a whole day with us up the lake getting to know what off the grid float cabin living was like.

The results called Chalets de la Cote Ouest (West Coast Cottages) will be rebroadcasting on UNIS, a Canadian television channel focusing on French-speaking audiences from British Columbia to the Atlantic provinces.

Click below to go the the video link. This is a screen shot.

Our float cabin home is featured in the second segment that is rebroadcasting as follows:

or check your local listing.

It should be available (in French only) on the UNIS website after the first airing date. Click here to go to the video page and click on the arrow next to "Voir la video."

Sharing our lifestyle has been fun. This was our second televison production. The first was for Extreme Houseboats on the Travel Channel. Unfortunately, this video is blocked in Canada. -- Margy

  1. How exciting. I'm sure lots of people will be interested in learning about your float cabin home. RE my post on Planes on Parade. The planes were small enough to be transported by road with their wings removed. It took a day to put them back on when they arrived on the Parade ground.

    1. I wish it has subtitles in English. They filmed me speaking English but the audio is now only in French. The Travel Channel segment still airs once in a while. That one is in English and is always available online. - Margy

  2. I had my husband watch the video, he loves boats and water so I know he would enjoy your area. Maybe someday we will get to visit your neck of the woods and see all the things you have been posting about!

  3. What fun to watch - I love all the neat things about your float house. After meeting you in person it was a lot more fun to watch. I wish there were English subtitles too. Maybe if I watch it a lot more times I'll pick up some French. Love your yellow canard.

    1. My early babysitter was French and she taught me a few things like counting and "I love you." Her family had a chateau and raised race horses. The Germans took over their place during the war and they lost everything. Her fiance was killed and she came to America to start a new life. It was so interesting to hear stories about her life with horses in France, at boarding school in English (she actually had a British accent which I picked up as a four year old), and leaving everything behind and lived taking care of someone else's child. - Margy
