USC Women's Basketball

USC's Galen Center Basketball Court
Wayne and I've enjoyed lots of USC basketball this week on our winter sun and sports-cation. Because Wayne's a USC alumnus, we plan our trips around their sports events.

USC men's basketball used to be at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena next to the Coliseum and women's games were on campus. Now both men and women play at the Galen Center that opened in 2006. It's a great venue for basketball, volleyball, concerts and other shows.

One thing we like going to the Galen Center is that it is freeway close and parking in the building is easily accessible just after the Exposition Blvd. exit off the Harbor (110) Freeway.

When we lived in the Los Angeles area, we drove from home. Now that we live up north, we like to stay at the USC Raddison that's right next door and have dinner at The Lab Gastropub in between.

We really enjoy women's basketball games. This week we've seen the Women of Troy play their arch-rivals from UCLA, the Oregon Ducks, and tomorrow it'll be a gave vs. Oregon State.

Good tickets are easier to get, the crowd more supportive, and the women perform as a unified team, each player working with her peers to do the best that they can.

We took some good friends with us to one of the games. Carl and Lori have been friends for years, and we take the opportunity when we return to Los Angeles to reconnect.

Vacations are great for so many reasons. -- Margy
